Therapy for women navigating body image, relationship with food, and change

You may know a great deal about taking care of your health and still find yourself struggling with food, your body or the pressure to get everything right. I work with women who want support with those struggles and room to decide what feeling healthier means to them.

I’m Cherie Couvillon, M.A., LPCC. I bring more than 20 years of experience in health, wellness, fitness and behavior change to my work as a therapist. That background helps me understand both the practical challenges of changing habits and the emotions that can make those changes difficult.

Why this work matters to me

My years in the fitness industry taught me how much effort people put into caring for their bodies. They also showed me how easily that effort can become tied to pressure, comparison and the feeling that we are never doing enough.

My own relationship with food and body image has shaped this work, too. I know what it is like for thoughts about your body to take up more space than you want them to. As a woman navigating perimenopause, I also understand that a changing body can bring questions about confidence, identity and how to care for yourself now.

Your experience will be your own. I bring curiosity to it, along with the belief that you deserve respect at every size and stage of life.

Room for acceptance and change

You can want to improve your health or change how you look while learning to feel better about yourself today. You can also decide that you are tired of pursuing weight loss. We can explore those choices without making your worth depend on them.

I support women using GLP-1 medications, women who are not, and women who feel unsettled by the conversations happening around weight and bodies. Together, we look at what you need, what matters to you and how to move away from shame as a source of motivation.

What working with me feels like

I am an active, collaborative therapist. I ask questions, share observations and help you connect what we discuss to everyday life. There is space to understand your experiences and space to practice doing things differently.

We might explore what happens before emotional eating, how body criticism affects your day, or why a missed workout feels like a personal failure. We may also work on anxiety, perfectionism and the pressure to keep meeting everyone else’s expectations.

My approach draws from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused approaches and somatic strategies. In everyday terms, that means working with your thoughts, emotions and physical responses while finding practical ways to support yourself.

Begin where you are

You do not need to have a clear plan or feel ready to love your body. We can start with what feels difficult and what you would like to be different.

I offer individual telehealth therapy for adults located in Colorado. Schedule a complimentary consultation to talk about what you are looking for and whether we might be a good fit.
