Emotional Eating Therapy for Women

Understand your eating patterns and build a more flexible relationship with food

Maybe food is how you unwind after a demanding day. You hold things together for everyone else, then find yourself eating when you finally have a moment alone. It offers comfort, but afterward you feel guilty and promise to do things differently tomorrow.

You may already know plenty about nutrition. What feels harder is understanding why you keep returning to a pattern you want to change.

I work with women who want to understand their eating experiences and care for themselves with less guilt, pressure and self criticism.

Get curious about what you need

Eating for comfort does not have to become another reason to judge yourself. We can explore what is happening around it.

You may be looking for relief from stress, a break from responsibility or something enjoyable at the end of the day. Going too long without eating or following rigid food rules may also be part of your experience.

Together, we look at what happens before, during and after eating. Understanding the pattern helps us identify what support you need and where change might feel manageable.

Step out of the cycle of starting over

You might begin with strict expectations, struggle to maintain them and decide you have failed. One choice can turn into a reason to abandon your plans until Monday.

That cycle can make eating feel like a daily test.

Therapy can help you examine food rules, loosen all or nothing thinking and practice responding to an unexpected day without giving up on yourself. There is room for enjoyment and flexibility as you work toward your goals.

Build ways to respond to difficult moments

Our work may include noticing emotions earlier, asking for support, creating space to rest or finding additional ways to experience comfort.

Food can remain something you enjoy. We can help you develop more choices for responding when you feel stressed, lonely, overwhelmed or depleted.

We will also pay attention to how you speak to yourself afterward. A difficult moment can become something to understand rather than evidence that you lack discipline.

Support that fits your life and your health goals

With more than 20 years in health, wellness, fitness and behavior change, I understand how challenging it can be to turn intentions into habits when life is busy.

You may be pursuing weight loss, using a GLP-1 medication, navigating perimenopause or feeling ready to step away from dieting. We can explore the emotional and behavioral side of your experience alongside guidance from your medical or nutrition providers.

Together, we can choose manageable changes and work on the stress, expectations or self criticism that make them harder to sustain.

If concerns about your appearance or worth are closely connected to eating, we can address those too. You can learn more on my Body Image page.

You do not need another perfect plan

We can begin by understanding what is happening and what you would like to feel differently about food.

I offer individual telehealth therapy for adults in Colorado and coaching for those outside Colorado.
