Therapy for GLP-1 Use and Weight Change

Support for how you feel about food, your body and yourself

If you are using a GLP-1 medication through your medical provider, you may be navigating feelings you did not expect. Relief can sit alongside uncertainty. Changes in your body may bring confidence in some moments and discomfort in others. You may still hear the same critical voice, even when your weight changes.

Therapy offers space to work through that experience and build ways of caring for yourself that support your life beyond the scale.

Your choices belong to you

You deserve emotional support whether you use medication, decide against it or are still considering your options with your prescriber. You do not have to defend your choice here.

I bring more than 20 years in health, wellness, fitness and behavior change to this work. I understand that pursuing a health goal involves more than knowing what to do. Your history with food, the expectations you place on yourself and the way others respond can all shape the experience.

Making sense of body and identity changes

You may find that other people comment on your body more often. Compliments may feel good, uncomfortable or both. You might wonder why you are receiving different attention or feel pressure to keep changing.

We can explore those reactions, practice boundaries around body comments and work on the beliefs that tie your value to your appearance. There is also room to talk about feeling unfamiliar to yourself or discovering that a change you hoped for has not resolved everything you were struggling with.

Building habits with less pressure

You may want help adjusting everyday routines, finding movement you enjoy or noticing when perfectionism turns a health goal into a test of your worth.

Our work focuses on the thoughts, emotions and patterns surrounding those habits. Together, we can explore what gets in the way, choose manageable changes and practice responding to setbacks without abandoning your efforts or criticizing yourself.

Your medical provider guides medication decisions and monitoring. Nutrition plans belong with an appropriately qualified nutrition professional. Therapy supports the emotional and behavioral parts of your care and can complement those services.

Room for uncertainty about the future

You may worry about weight regain, a change in treatment or how you would feel if your body changed again. We can make room for those concerns while strengthening the parts of your identity and self respect that are not dependent on a particular outcome.

Support is also available if you are not taking a GLP-1 but feel triggered by the attention surrounding these medications. We can explore comparison, old dieting urges and how to stay connected to your own needs amid the noise.

Talk about what this means for you

Your experience may include body image concerns, emotional eating, perimenopause or anxiety. We can work with the connections and focus on what matters most to you.

I offer individual telehealth therapy for adults in Colorado and coaching for those outside Colorado. A complimentary consultation is a chance to discuss what you are looking for and whether we might work well together.
